Safari Notes Clipper

Support

Support for Safari Notes Clipper on macOS 26 or later.

Get started

Open Safari Notes Clipper and press Command-comma to open Settings. In General, choose Connect to Notes…, approve macOS access to Notes, and choose an existing Notes folder. Once connected, use Refresh Folders if your destinations change. In Safari, choose Open Safari Settings… and enable the extension. In Safari, open a webpage and activate the clipper toolbar button. Select text first to capture only that passage.

The companion window shows whether the clip finished. Open your chosen folder in Notes to read it. Saved notes include the webpage source so you can check details later.

The extension is missing

Open Safari → Settings → Extensions and enable Safari Notes Clipper. Use the extension's website access controls when Safari requests permission. Keep the containing Mac app installed. After moving or replacing a development app, restart Safari; App Store installations manage the containing app and extension together.

Notes permission or folder problems

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation and check Safari Notes Clipper's Notes access. Open Notes to finish any account setup, then refresh folders in the companion. If an unfinished clip's destination was moved or deleted, restore that folder and retry; changing the default folder does not move an already queued clip to another account.

AI is unavailable

In Settings → General → Content, choose Captured text, Cleaned text, or AI summary. Captured text saves readable source content without AI and is the default. The two AI modes need a compatible Mac, Apple Intelligence enabled, and its model ready. Unsupported languages, unavailable models, and unverified results fall back to the complete captured text.

A capture needs retry

Keep the Mac unlocked and open Notes, then select the affected clip in the companion and use its available recovery action. Retry preserves the capture and destination. Where offered, Save new copy preserves an earlier partial note and creates a fresh write attempt. Discarding recovery input does not delete an already saved note. Avoid editing the same note while the app is actively writing to it.

Images are missing

Use an iCloud or On My Mac for image attachments. The app omits decorative images and cannot download images that require Safari's sign-in cookies. Oversized, unsupported, or unavailable images keep explanatory text; follow the note's webpage source to inspect the original context. The app does not infer chart conclusions from unseen image pixels.

Privacy and contacting support

The app's Privacy Policy button explains local processing, temporary recovery data, image requests, and Notes syncing. Read the privacy policy.

When asking for help, include the app version, macOS version, and the error message. Share a public example URL if useful. Do not send private notes, passwords, or the recovery queue unless you have deliberately reviewed what it contains.
